Hilario might have only ever made 20 league appearances for Chelsea between 2006 and 2014 and might not have been the best goalkeeper in the world, but he deserves a lot of respect for his time he has spent at Chelsea, 18 years in fact.

He’s one of those unsung heroes really, and anyone I have spoken to around the club over the years who have happened to mention Hilario, always had good things to say and mention his dedication to the football club.

Hilario has now handed his notice in at our club, but just know that it would have been a super hard decision for him to make, and THE hardest he has ever had to make.

Hilario loves this football club even though he wasn’t a key figure when he was a player. As a goalkeeper coach, I’ve only heard good things.

Enzo Maresca's verdict as Chelsea coach Hilario quits to join Thomas Tuchel & England

But he’s now off to join his good friend Thomas Tuchel in the England setup. I heard that the pair got on really well at Chelsea and have a real mutual respect for what the other does.

Hilario has handed in his resignation at Chelsea to become his Tuchel’s goalkeeper coach at England.

He has decided to leave Chelsea to work with Tuchel at England after the club made it clear that they did not want him to job-share with England, per The Telegraph.

There will be a lot of people at Cobham old and new who will miss Hilario being around as he finally decides to start a new chapter in his career.

He has been a real team player over his time at the club, and he has acted as an emotional support for many of the players as well as a real motivator.

He wont be remembered as a Chelsea legend, and I’ve seen many criticise him over the years. But Hilario at the very least deserves a lot of respect for his dedication to this club and helping us with some of the great success he has seen and helped deliver here.
