Since DAY6 came back, it’s been a nonstop storm of touring, success, and incredible music. DAY6 had their last comeback in September, followed very closely by Sungjin‘s solo debut, and with the additional dates for their third world tour. Even though it’s been a while since Band-Aid, we didn’t expect DAY6 to come out with yet more amazing music. Oh but, how wrong we were. Just when we needed it the most, DAY6 are back with two incredible songs on their digital single, Maybe Tomorrow.

‘Maybe Tomorrow’

DAY6’s past two comebacks have been upbeat and a celebration of life and their craft, with ‘Welcome to the Show‘ and ‘Melt Down.’ ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ drifts away from that sound—this falls more in the category of DAY6’s more obscure sound. It is a song filled with vulnerability and strong emotions, but ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ is also full of light and hope for better days to come. DAY6 are no strangers to releasing songs that feel like a hug, and ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ is a great new addition to the list. With a sound that is almost reminiscent of Even of Day’s first mini-album, ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ feels so DAY6: the instrumental is bright, the melodies are catchy and full of sentiment, the lyrics are as impactful as ever, and their vocals elevate the song to a whole other level.

One thing is for sure: ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ feels like a friend on a cloudy day. The message is clear; today may be a bad day, but there’s always hope tomorrow won’t be.

‘game over’

Of course, DAY6 wouldn’t leave us hanging with just one song. ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ is complemented with a quite different b-side: ‘game over.’ This song showcases a more obscure, almost cruel side to DAY6 as they deliver a brutal song to mark the end of a relationship. While ‘Maybe Tomorrow’ had all the vibes of The Book of Us: Gluon, ‘game over’ would fit right in with Right Through Me. The guitar, hard-hitting lyrics, and smooth vocals and melodies make ‘game over’ an instant masterpiece. DAY6 are always exploring different genres and creating perfect, relatable, touching songs: ‘game over’ is a unforgettable example of it.
