Jasprit Bumrah has yet again underlined his greatness with the red ball, this time by etching his name alongside legends in two distinct ways, both involving England’s batting mainstay, Joe Root. So Let’s take a look at Most dismissals of Joe Root in International cricket.

On Day 2 of the Headingley Test, Bumrah dismissed Root for the 10th time in Test cricket, making it the most he has dismissed any batter in the format. This latest scalp came amidst overcast Leeds conditions, where Bumrah’s precision and angle created problems for even the most technically sound batters.

With this dismissal, Bumrah matched Pat Cummins as the joint-highest wicket-taker of Joe Root across formats; both have now sent Root packing 14 times each.

While Cummins has done so in 31 matches, Bumrah has achieved the same in just 25, underlining his superior strike rate and consistency.

Bumrah’s record against Root in Tests now reads: 10 dismissals in 25 innings, with the England star averaging just 29 against the Indian spearhead.

Joe Root, widely regarded as England’s finest Test batter of his generation, has struggled to crack Bumrah’s unique release and sharp movement.

Along with Bumrah, Josh Hazlewood (13), Ravindra Jadeja (13), and Pat Cummins (14) have also enjoyed repeated success against Root. However, no one has managed to do it with the same control and ruthlessness as Bumrah in recent years.

Jasprit Bumrah’s relentless brilliance continues to define India’s overseas legacy, as he not only tames England’s top order but also etches new records with every spell.

With India’s strong 471-run total in the first innings, Bumrah’s impact with the ball could tilt the match heavily in the visitors’ favour in Leeds.
