As they step away from their sci-fi, ae storyline, it truly feels like we’re stepping into a whole new era of their art and superstardom. Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning are back with the fierce ‘Dirty Work,’ an anthem celebrating confidence and standing strong in your own identity. Get your summer empowerment playlists ready, because we have the OG version, an English rendition, and an ae-conic remix with the one and only Flo Milli to have on repeat.

aespa set the bar very high for themselves with their last comeback, the Whiplash mini-album featuring the hypnotic title track of the same name. And ‘Dirty Work’ is a worthy successor! You know you’re in for a treat as soon as that bass commands your attention, then the girls’ stunning voices kick in and steal the spotlight. The first part of the bridge, with its slick guitar, gives us Cheetah Girls realness in the best way possible, while the “work it out” section afterwards calls back to a matching lyric on ‘Next Level.’
We love that ‘Dirty Work’ has such an empowering message about standing your ground and knowing your power. We especially love the “sharp teeth bite first” line and how you can take it as a reminder to stay sharp and ready to work for your goals. The people who get to live their dreams are the ones who are prepared to take a “bite,” like how aespa put in so much passion and hard work while training to be part of the group.
It’d simply be impossible to talk about ‘Dirty Work’ without talking about the amazing visuals! First off, the music video above is a total spectacle. They shot it at a Hyundai Steel plant to give us the whole dirty working vibe, alongside 225 extras. Yup, 225! The coordination is so cool to watch and we know the fandom will be making edits of this video for years to come.
Next, each concept photo had us absolutely sat and buzzing to see what this comeback would bring! The styling is just impeccable, 10/10, no notes. We don’t think we’ll get over the return of blonde Karina, Giselle’s bold red hair, Winter’s pretty curls, or Ningning’s incomparable aura. And that shot of Giselle with the dogs deserves a spot in The Louvre, in our humble opinion!
