Liam Neeson’s high-profile relationships have made headlines throughout the years.
Neeson began dating Helen Mirren while working together on the 1981 film Excalibur. The twosome started dating and began living together in London for four years.
“I fell in love with Helen Mirren,” Neeson recalled to Anderson Cooper during a 2014 episode of 60 Minutes.
The pair split around 1985, and Neeson was linked to Julia Roberts, Janice Dickinson, Brooke Shields and Barbra Streisand before he started dating Natasha Richardson in 1993.

Brooke Shields
Liam and Shields dated for a brief period of time in the early ‘90s, with the latter noting that he “wooed” her “with his brogue, his poetry and his s***ty choice of pinot grigio wine.”
Shields shared in her 2014 memoir, There Was a Little Girl, that they grew serious after three months and Liam asked her to marry him “without a ring.” While the twosome were celebrating Christmas together in New York later that year, Liam reportedly told Shields he had to fly to Los Angeles to check on his house and told her he would call — but he never did.
“He came back after the first time he left me and asked me to marry him again,” Shields told People in a November 2014 interview, adding that she didn’t include that in the book because it was going to be long already. “This was before he started to do a play [Anna Christie]. And I said, ‘No, no, no, because knowing you, you’ll probably fall in love with your next leading lady and marry her, so I’m leaving myself out of this.’ And I was dead right.’” (The leading lady in the play was Natasha.)
Natasha Richardson
The late actress and Liam met while playing opposite each other in the Broadway revival of Anna Christie in 1993. The couple tied the knot in 1994 and welcomed sons Micheál and Daniel in 1995 and 1996, respectively. Liam and Natasha stayed together until her death in 2009 after a ski accident.
Liam has been open about his journey with grief since her death.
“I speak to her every day at her grave which is about a mile and a half down the road,” he told the Inquirer.net in July 2020. “I go down there quite often, so I do speak to her as if she’s here. Not that she answers me.”

Anderson and Liam sparked romance rumors at the U.K. premiere of their comedy The Naked Gun in July 2025 when Anderson kissed Liam on the cheek. Later that month, a source told Us that the pair are “dating” and “always had chemistry while they were filming and their friendship naturally developed into more.”
The insider noted that they are “learning to navigate” their very “new” relationship as they continue to promote their film.
“They are both shy and have tried to stay private but the spark between them is obvious,” the source said, adding that Anderson’s sons “love seeing her happy and fully approve” and “think Liam is great and have gotten to know him better in the last few months.”
Anderson confirmed to People in December 2025 that she and Neeson “were romantically involved for a short while” after filming The Naked Gun. Though she called their time together a “romantic lost week,” she added that they were “better friends.”
