We at The Honey POP are deeply saddened by the loss of the wonderful Camryn Magness. Known to many simply as Camryn, the Denver-born pop singer tragically passed away on December 5th at just 26 years old. We’ve been cheering her on since long before THP even existed as a publication, and we’ve been proud to champion her work over the years.
While her passing is devastating, we also believe it’s important to celebrate the bright, vibrant life she lived. Beginning her career at just eight years old, Camryn created countless unforgettable moments in her rise and left an impact far beyond her years. We dedicate this article to the incredible artist she was: someone who brought so much to the world, and who undoubtedly had so much more ahead of her.
Camryn’s passion for music was lit long before most of us even knew her name. She began sharing her voice online as a tween, posting videos that eventually turned heads in the industry. That early spark led her from YouTube into real stages, where she joined tours with artists like Greyson Chance and Cody Simpson, bringing her sound to audiences across the country from her early teens.
Even early in her career, Camryn was thinking about how to share her music with others. In 2011, when she noticed there weren’t many family-friendly tours for young fans, she created her Back 2 School Tour, performing at nearly 100 schools across the U.S. and reaching over 80,000 students. Along the way, she brought her new single ‘Set the Night on Fire’ to television and radio programs, connecting with fans in a way that was personal, energetic, and inspiring.

It wasn’t long before Camryn was opening for some of pop’s biggest names. At just 13, she joined One Direction on their Up All Night Tour and later returned as support during their Take Me Home Tour across Europe; experiences that introduced her to massive crowds and helped shape her as a performer. She also brought her energy to stages with Fifth Harmony during their European 7/27 Tour, showcasing a versatility and drive that always kept her evolving.
As Camryn grew, so did her sound. At seventeen, she released her EP New Dynasty, a moment that marked a major shift in her artistry. It was a stepping stone from her earlier, youthful pop beginnings to a more mature, confident voice. Fans often point to this era as the moment she truly came into her own, carving the kind of direction she would continue exploring for years to come.
Fans also remember Camryn for her warmth, her readiness to connect after shows, and the way she brought her energy into every room she entered, whether it was a sold-out arena or a quiet moment with followers online. Her presence was as much about the joy she shared as the music she created. Her fandom, the CAMFAM, loved her fiercely.
“I remember when Camryn came to my middle school to perform during lunch time, and I met her when I exited the band room. Camryn was such a talented musician,” shares fan Chris when speaking in her memory.
Posting to Camryn’s guest book on her obituary, Danish fan Line wrote: “You will be missed forever and always. You have been the best ever, you designed my heart tattoo, you gave me friends, and most of all, you lit up my world! You are a beautiful angel now for sure. Love you forever and always.”
Beyond the stage and the studio, Camryn’s heart was always open to others. She shared her voice with the kids and staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, gifting them the song ‘Brave;’ a tender, uplifting track meant to bring comfort and courage to anyone who needed it. Quietly, without fanfare, she supported causes that mattered to her, offering small gestures with big impacts, all done with the same care and warmth she poured into every note she sang. This was Camryn: a light in the lives of those around her, whose compassion left a mark that will not be forgotten.
As the music world shifted around her, Camryn found ways to keep connecting with fans and embracing new opportunities. In 2021, she finally made her SXSW debut, not on the crowded streets of Austin, but in a creative virtual performance filmed safely amid pandemic restrictions. Even without a live crowd, she threw herself into the moment, treating every camera as if it were a single fan sitting right in front of her and playing with lighting and visuals in ways she hadn’t tried before. That same year, she released her EP Love Maps, a deeply personal body of work that showcased her growth as a songwriter and producer, exploring themes of love, connection, and emotional honesty.
Camryn’s artistry wasn’t just about big tours or chart moments; it was rooted in how she saw her own music and growth. Back in 2019, when talking with us at The Honey POP about her single ‘EZEZ,’ she reflected on her journey with a kind of grounded confidence that felt uniquely her own: “I’ve taken a lot of time to create what I think is my best body of work thus far. As I get older, I learn more about music and life, and I think that’s reflected in my music!” That belief in evolution, in leaning into life and letting it shape her sound, was so central to how she approached her craft and connected with fans.
What made Camryn’s story so inspiring wasn’t just the stages she stood on, but the way she talked about growth and dedication. When speaking to us back in 2019, she reflected on nearly ten years in music, from her first single as a pre-teen to constantly evolving as an artist, with a clarity and determination that really stuck with us:“I’m extremely proud that no matter what, music comes first, and I think 10 years of dedication proves that. One of the hardest parts of this career is to keep pushing forward even when people or circumstances try to push you back. You have to keep fighting for what you love, and I will continue to do that.” It’s a sentiment that resonated with fans then, and feels even more powerful now as we look back on all she gave.
Camryn was more than a singer, more than a performer: she was a light, a presence, and a heart that reached far beyond the stage. From her earliest videos online to her thoughtful tours, from her tender songs like Brave to her personal connections with fans, she shared herself fully with the world. Her music, her kindness, and her dedication to others leave a legacy that will continue to inspire everyone who knew her, listened to her, or was touched by her warmth. Though her life was far too short, the joy, courage, and love she gave will echo for years to come.

Writer’s Note:
Camryn was one of the most talented and kind souls I’ve ever had the joy of knowing. I first discovered her when she was just starting out, and years later, our first meeting for an interview in Cardiff for the youth website I was writing for as a teen, a tiny moment in her whirlwind schedule, became one I will never forget. From that day, we stayed in touch, and over time, we became friends. I got to see not just the extraordinary artist, but the thoughtful, generous person behind the music, whose warmth reached far beyond the stage.
She inspired my path in music journalism and touched my life in ways I will carry forever. Camryn, your voice, your kindness, and your light will stay with me always. Rest peacefully, beautiful girl, and thank you for everything you gave to me, to your fans, and to the world.
TO REMEMBER AND PAY TRIBUTE TO CAMRYN
